There has been at least one member that sheared the top of their shock off running 89s, with Mark's 3" kit with no bumper.

Well, thats definitely no bueno. I just looked at Anthonys thread and it says he cut down his 89s one coil. I kindof like that idea. How does that sound?

or, keep my rear 2" spacer, replace the front 3" spacers with 2.5in ones, and then put 89s on that? or 88s? gosh I don't have enough experience with this.

The 2.5" w/89 combo def works, v7guy and tarsh both run it, the difference seems to be the .50" which is why with the help of James's input I decided to go ahead and cut a coil off to see if it helped.. Only time will tell if it works or not...

Do not run the 3" lift and the 89. V7guy (Jason) IIRC blew 3-4 HD struts on NYS pot hole roads (BTW he had a steel front bumper then also). He even tried a few different things to get around the issue but still blew the struts. Trash did not head our warnings and also blew out a strut/s and is now running the 2.5' lift. This is why you don't see to many members running the 89 unless they have the 2.5" lift. On Jason envoy he is running the 2.5" lift and 89 with good success as Anthony stated. Many have had success with 87 & 88 and the 3" lift. JD ran the BDS 2" lift and 87 for many years with out issues. Since you have the 3" lift already just get the springs.

Well that pretty much sums it up. Thanks for the info yoda. I'll probably pair that bumper with either 87s or 88s down the road.

Need a bit of help with this matter.
I got a 2006 TB LS with front springs part number: 15125881, the softest ones.
I just finished swapping a LQ9 engine in it (6.0L V8 iron block), and now it's siting a bit lower in the front, also it dives too much when braking, and the sun visor covers the whole visibility field when lowered. Total PITA!

Can someone suggest any specific spring part number for me to get normal riding height? Thanks.

If you have z71s in the back I would do either 87 or 88s. But you mentioned bringing it back to stock height so 86s may be what your looking for. I believe there was an equation that showed how much lift you would get from each spring, if you want to fine tune the ride height.

I currently have 87s with just the 4.2 up front and it rides pretty smooth. I won't go any stiffer though, I actually might swap the 87s for 86s if I go through another cv shaft in a month though...

Thank you Rick :thumright:
I will try finding a set of 86s or 87s. Unless you have a spare for sale
I have no idea what I have on the back.
Not sure if the equation applies to my case, since my springs are already compressed by the extra weight of the heavier engine.

I have a set of '85's that were stock from my '05 EXT with the 5.3L V8. I'll sell them for $20 + shipping if you are interested. OR, if you want they are currently installed with MarkMC's 3" leveling kit and brand new KYB shocks. I'll sell the pair of them completely assembled for $100 + shipping.

No problem man! I wouldn't think the difference with the heavier engine would be too much... Maybe think of an 86 spring with your engine being the same compressed height as someone with the 4.2 and 85 springs. It'll atleast give you a good idea of how much lift you'd get from each spring. And if I do blow another cv shaft, then I'd be glad to sell you my 87s, but other than that I have no spares...

Awesome! Blow that shaft! JK :P
I'll give it a try to those 85 from HawkeyeC25 by the moment.

I found this other part number: 15780415. Seems to be for the SSs.
Does anyone has any input about those?
I guess they are shorter than the ones for non SS.
