First, I think you need to define your mission. Since you're on this site, I assume it is going to be for functional off roading. MarkMC's lift, Z71s, and Bilstien front struts are a good start. If you are planning to replace the rear shocks, BDS makes decent ones for lifted TB applications. You should also plan on getting an oil pan skid plate at the very least. And how about tires? Depending on size, you could be involving spacers and maybe new wheels. Anything larger than 30.5" inches will require spacer of 1.5" to clear the upper ball joints. Check out some of our build threads. It will give you a good idea as to what certain mods will accomplish, and you can make a shopping list from there. You took the first right step. You're here :fro:

I was planing on doing the Bilstien HD's in the rear as well. Would the BDS's be that much of an improvemnet. For tires I was thinking about running 265/75/16's

If you are going to replace your rear shocks, using the BDS shocks is a no brainer. They are similarly priced to the Bilsteins and work much much better on a lifted truck.

This is an aggressive post. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate a post of this quality and depth.

Like Bob said... what is your goal? What do you plan on doing with your lift?
Also... if you're lifting the rear and replacing shocks, you'd be a fool not to go with BDS 55619s or 95619s, at minimum.

Something thats functional off road, nothing hard core as this is my DD, cant afford it to be down to long. as well as looks good sitting on 32" tires

Gordinho's rig is built well. Study his thread as well as others. As stated, Marks lift is a good start, Z71 springs, Biltsien struts, BDS shocks, wheel spacers, tires of choice, a little under armor, and maybe some recovery equipment to start. Shouldn't ill the wallet to badly and should give you some off road capabilities while keeping it driveable every day. Remember, the down time is determined by the way you drive off road, not the mods you do.

Mine is a DD and does trips to far off wheeling spots. Go all out and use it. The jaw drop factor you will see on tougher trails is worth it.

Good goals. With those tires your definatley going to need spacers as well.

2ndly, i HIGHLY recommend the BDS rear shocks. Im currently running the 9500s on my truck, i have a thread on here about them. They also have a much more cost effective setup, their 5500 series which quite a few people are running. Definately look into it,especially if your going to run the 'z71' with the higher spring rate (which im sure your already aware of)

:Iagree: Mine is both my DD and my "Company" truck, I mod it the way I do because I have the confidence that things will hold up and if they don't I can have it fixed in a day or less.

I had to roll up to a client's house this morning covered in dirt, because I spent extra time yanking an Explorer out from between two rocks yesterday and didn't get home until dark. No time to wash it this morning.

It was quite the conversation starter. :coffee2:

Make sure you post to a build thread as you go along. The one thing I usually forget to do is to take before and during shots of any of my projects, only after shots....

Ordered the 5500's saturday, They will be here Friday. next week ordering front shocks, the week after that wheels/spaces. While I am down there, would it be wise to just replace the CV half shafts and the end links? currently I am at 61xxx miles
