whats the largest tire you can fit on stock 17" LT wheel?

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

I've started looking at adding a 2" body lift to my TB that will bring my "ground to fender" height to about 40 1/4" front and back just wondering how big of a tire I can fit on my stock 17's? I know 285's will fit. I've got 265/70/R17 on them now but how much wider can I go before I need a wider wheel with better offset? the 265's already look to small... :|

275 is the widest tire you can fit on your tb without after market rims. The stock rim is only 7" wide and a 285 requires atleast a 7.5" rim.

thanks for the reply! I know Trail X has 285's on his stock TB wheels so I know they will fit but probably really push it I think i'll look for a 275 that way I still have the aggressive look but not the "those stick way out there!" look...

275s will be perfect. I myself was thinking about buying 275/70/17s but I'd rather not push my luck since i have the feeling my transmisson will crap out on me. So I'm gonna stick to 265/70/17s i think... Aftermarket rims do a whole world of difference if your looking for stance though. Factory wheels have a lot of positive offset, just getting aftermarket rims with +35 offset (which is what I'm going to do) will make the tires stick out a lot more than stock rims and give you that aggressive stance if thats what your looking for. Any pics of what your stance looks like now? And do you have wheel adapters?

Looks good man! I think 275/70/17s be great. But like i said before, aftermarket rims will do a world of difference if you're looking for more of a wider stance and will also give you the ability to put wider tires on in the future. Personally, I'd buy new rims and tires at the same time (which is what I'm actually doing haha).
