Can a 32" fit where the factory spare goes?

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

Haven't really seen much on this but I have been thinking about it lately. I haven't been on here in a while and am more of a mall crawler these days so I'm thinking of losing the hitch mounted carrier and will eventually be removing the lift and going back to factory tires. Wondering if anyone has fit a 32" tire underneath and if anything major needed to be done.

It doesn't fit. I tried it and it wasn't close.

A 30.5" won't even fit.

Thanks fellas. Guess I'll keep the tire carrier until I get smaller tires. It still works great by the way Mike

I was able to get my spare 265/70/17 to fit in the original spare tire location. It was really close but it fits.

I've read repeatedly a 32 will fit and I've read it for years, I've got no personal experience attempting it though. A 32 with no lift will be interesting.

I was looking at this yesterday while I was under mine changing a fuel pump. My tires measure in at 29.5" and the spare is underneath but it doesn't sit in position correctly. In order to fit larger, I figure you'd have to remove all of the heat shields.

I have a used, 1/2 worn, 265/75/16 in my spare location. I am running a 2" body lift but I don't think that matters.

I'd get you some pictures but I'm out of the country currently. My tire is almost new and fits perfectly. Heat shields still in place too. It's close but it works.
