crappy factory wheel offset

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

:wallbash: well i knew it was going too good. i read and read and then read some more. I came up with a battle plan and started buying parts. I thought about adapters but said screw it to save a couple bucks and bought 1.5" spacers to use factory wheels. turns out my factory wheels have 50mm offset and what i really need is 3" spacers. needless to say i will now be buying wheels, tires and rethinking adapters. suspension is great, wish i would have measured first. anyway i found a good web site for offset calculating.

What size tires are you talking about running?

looking at running in the 32" range. 275/65/18 but now i'm going to do some soul searching and weigh the cost to benefit equation. really by the time i factor the cost savings on 17" tires the wheels seem more reasonable. should have just planned on wheels and gone with adapters.

That somehow doesn't sound right to me, the difference between 1.5" and 3" is almost 40mm.

Are you using the stock 18" wheels or something aftermarket?
This is an aggressive post. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate a post of this quality and depth.

I don't think your math is right. I'm running 31.8" tall tires (265/70-17) with no trimming or rubbing, with 1.5" spacers and stock wheels. Others have run 285's (33" tires) on stock wheels with 1.5" or 1.25" spacers, without much trimming.

Yeah, I have 285 wide 33 in tires on stock wheels and a 1.5" spacers. That setup is fine for you.

sorry about the 3" comment i was just venting. i measured my wheels{18x8) at 7-1/8 back space give or take for crappy eyes and tape measure. with the 1.5 spacer i am still looking at a 12mm offset. right now it sits with 245/60/18 the ball joint is up 1.5" and over 1/4". on a brighter note, as long as i stay at the 30" range i can go like a foot wide.

Mine run a little rough with wheel spacers....it smoothed out without them.

Did you have them properly torqued? Were they cheap ebay ones or something proven? Did you remove the lil clips so that sat flush? Were they hub centric?

I assume you were running the factory 18x8 with a 50 mm offset and a 1.5" inspacer. This should be enough offset to run a 32x11. Ball joint clearance should be close but clear. What did you end up doing?

I'm running that exact size STT Pros and I only needed the 1.5" spacers with stock wheels.

EDIT: I just noticed that you've got 18s. Sorry.
