Chunk missing from wheel.

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

by Slodell » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:12 am

I have American Racing rims that I picked up.
I ended up chunking a piece on the inner lip of the rim.
It's about an inch deep and about 3-4 inches long. It secures the bead well and doesn't leak,
My concern is if airing down, is the possibility of jacking something up more, extremely high?
Thanks in advance for the help.

My concern would mainly be that that wheel is compromised, who knows where else now.

Also, it doesn't look like your tires have much in the way of bead protection eitjer

If the rubber is actually missing, you need a new tire ASAP as it's not even safe on the street.

To me, that looks like the tire rolled off the wheel. I would let all the air out of the tire and try to seat the tire back on the wheel the way it's supposed to be. Did you hit a curb or something?

Look like someone did an emergency stop with no tire on, and it ground down the edge. Throw the wheel away.

Been looking for a replacement all day.
Might just go with steel wheels and let them get bent up.

In other words, I'd rather see a bend than chunks coming off my wheels.

I think I would have to get a replacement... or pick up a new set of wheels.
