Line-X exterior

Dumping ground for offroad Trailblazer or Envoy general discussion.

by SurfBum » Sat Apr 12, 2014 9:43 pm

Tried searching for it and I couldn't find a related topic...if it's been discussed I apologize ahead of time.

Anybody on here Line-X or Rhino Line the entire exterior of your Trailvoy? If so price, likes or dislikes...have at it I want to hear it.

I'm thinking about doing mine since it's a daily driver and hunting rig. Being I. The desert I've got the infamous desert pin striping all over my '03 Voy. I've seen a couple Jeeps done and it looks pretty sick plus you can change the color too. Right now I'm all back and in the Vegas heat it's brutal. Thinking about going with a gun metal grey or something along those lines.

Let the love and hate begin! It's all fair game on this topic

A member with a Colorado monstaliner the exterior of his truck, I do remember the XUV with Herculiner, Mario and then myself did the bottom half in Deck Restore.

The monstaliner comes in the most colors and is the most expensive $250+, but I think it is the strongest. The Deck Restore is tough as hell too.

Will do. Good to see some other folks in here from the land of dirt and debaucery.

How'd you guys like the looks of the ones you have seen? I'm thinking professional sprayed on is the way to go for me. I know I will jack it up if I try to spray myself

If we find the right place in town it is easy to spray it. I was looking at my rig today with all of the pin striping from a couple of SaR missions that I did.

There are a couple of us up here in the north east near the base.

That's awesome to know there are fellow TrailVoyers out here. I'm out in scummerlin. There is one place in town that sprays Line-X but they were closed today so I couldn't call for a price check. I don't mind a trip to LA or SD to get it done either. The place in town is called 4theTruck and they've got a few jeeps, trucks and older SUV's sprayed too to bottom as well as lower rockers down

I've found that though it's a 24 hour town a lot of places here keep banking hours. The fab shop I am having my crossbars done at does the same thing M-F 8-5

That line x looks good. They are really expensive though, from what I recall. The herculined XUV from years ago looked less even, and it got tacky in the sun.

I like that finish too, but from my understanding it couldn't be done by yourself. The coating has to be done with some special equipment correct?

Unfortunatly "said company" is pretty small time and has become more hobbyish. After being made rediculous offers to come work for the "man".

These projects usual are done now after work, kids, home. And the everso famous "hey can you...." Call.
But when the GAE takes place and if you need some help in the Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids areas of Michigan I will take good care of you. Plus there is always plenty of space and tools at my place if need be.

You got it, mini-me.

So far my only experience with Michigan is the Detroit Airport... so it hasn't quite made it to my "Top 10" list

That's the same color I am wanting to do mine. I think I would rather drop the 5k on putting a 5.3 motor in my envoy rather then the 5K I was quoted to do the exterior in Line-x and the other few that I called as well. Plus they said 3-5 week turnaround!
