Ran across this earlier. Seems pretty nifty, I could imagine in scenarios where you aren't trying to lift up the truck to move it, it could be very useful. A bit steep at $110 or so.

Thought thats what I spent $35 dollars on a base plate for. Looks pretty similar only with wires. Could probably make your own for half the cost.
Once lifted 03 Trailblazer on 35's, gave it up to travel the USA with my family.

It removes the tippiness from the HiJack, but I still wouldn't go underneath the vehicle if this was the only support. And half the time, I *want* it to be tippy for a drive-off self-extraction.

That is pretty sweet but that price just seems a little steep. Maybe it is all stainless steel...

Could you not do the same thing with a piece high grade 2x6 or 2x8 about 12" long to distribute the load. :scratch: Not sure what the compression strength is of a 2x6 or 2x8 but not picking up the whole TB. Looking for some of the SME or ME to shoot this full of wholes. :mrgreen: :lol: :fro:

I'm waiting for an ME to explain the purpose of the cables other than when my buddies try to push it side to side after i jack it... I see that the thing is stable on lateral motion, what about fore/aft sway? Not seeing how it tops the offroad base in the first example.

Just dont push the damn thing after you jack it!! (free life advice)

I think its just as you said... it keeps the jack perpendicular to the base, and keeps it tied down to the base. Its probably thought of as the "easier" option than manufacturing a I beam mount for the hi lift and removing the pin in the stock hilift base.

I've used 2X6 pieces several times to increase the footprint on a jack. I think it would depend a lot on the terrain you are in. Here where your biggest obstacle is a beach rut or a mud hole they could be useful. We've also used them to help fill the hole we were stuck in (jack the truck up and stick boards in the hole).

Several years ago (the first time I ever drove on the beach), I used a piece of drift wood on the beach to give my bottle jack a bigger footprint to help get unstuck. There are a lot of situations where they are better than nothing.

That being said, I broke two 4ft pieces(that had some age) this hunting season driving my golfcart up on a trailer so there is risk there as well.

J.R. - Hmm. As I said originally, for $69 the Safe Jack is a steal. At $109, not so much.
