if you have a windows pc and win xp google Microsoft image resizer. You can resize a bunch pictures all at once. Just make copy first. For vista and win 7 there are others other there. Resize them like 1024x768 is goos size for the size.

I run a program called pic shrink. It automatically resizes pics as I upload them to the web. Works well for me and I don't have to think about it cuz its automatic. Also, it doesn't change the original file.
