Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

TECORE - supplies, gear, and storage

Dumping ground for offroad Trailblazer or Envoy general discussion.

by boog2006 » Tue Oct 16, 2012 11:22 am

I'm really interested in hearing what everyone brought and used. I'm suggesting the following format to keep this thread clean if approved. :)

Picture of Rig

Type of storage...roof rack, hitch carrier, cargo area...

Supply list...

Recovery and parts list...

What should you have brought...

What should you have left at home...

If you like this thread idea POST UP!

Thanks...

Truck:

3 Plano boxes from Menards on the roof. We had cooking stuff, tents, chainsaw stuff, etc. up in them. Basically, stuff that wouldn't hurt to get wet. The boxes are pretty water tight, but they don't have seals in them, so when you're in a pouring rain on the highway, they can let a few trickles in. Camping pads, sleeping bags, and clothes went inside the vehicle.

Of course, the spare tire carrier, trasharoo carrier (tire), and fuel carrier are the rear bumper. The winch is on the front bumper. The Hi-Lift, shovel, and pick/axe are on the rack.

I'll play along:

Picture of Rig from Event:

Well, at least it's the truck - it doesn't help much to understand how it's packed.

Type of storage...roof rack, hitch carrier, cargo area...
Custom box in rear with recovery equipment/tools
Rear seat replacement deck
Front roof rack

Supply list...
<working from the rear>
Extra fuel
Water
Stove/stand
Table
1 Camping supply box (includes cookware, recip saw, lanterns, fire starters, tent heater, tent fan, etc)
Fridge
Clothes
Big jacket
Wind-proof pants
Ear plugs (damn bears)
Boots
Thick socks
Gloves
RTT
Camera

Recovery and parts list...
Normal recovery equipment (straps, tools, first aid, winch, hilift)
Normal replacement parts (fuses, bulbs, a little fluid, tie rods)

What should you have brought...
I wasn't planning to stay two nights, so I almost didn't bring enough food, and I didn't bring my camp toilet - however ended up being OK in both cases.
Also forgot my shovel
I now know that I need to pack a machete next time.

What should you have left at home...
Nothing really... of the stuff I didn't use, I think all are still reasonable to bring. I've needed most of it sometime in the past.

A little bump for newer guys to see this lil discussion. Some good info on loading out for most of the stuff many of us do.
