hilift jacks

Hey guys I wanted to get first hand experiences on hilift jacks I was thinking about getting one for the tb. Im past the stock jack height that comes with the truck and suggestions on the height of the jack? I got a 3 inch suspension lift with 33's but that's about it and are they reliable for the money?

You can probably find one on Craigslist... I got mine with a little use for very cheap. Unless you have sliders, you'll need the "Lift Mate" attachment to jack up the truck by the wheels.

I think if you did a lot of searching they are more of a recovery tool than a true jack to like change a flat.
Unless you have rock sliders and a steel bumper to hook to you won't be able to jack up to change a tire.

If you are just too tall to use your scissors jack, carry a block of wood to put under the jack with you to make up the difference in height.

If you get the adapters and need to use it as a winch, or get the lift mates and need to lift a tire out of a rut and back fill the hole, I understand they work well as an all around recovery tool.

I always carry mine with me, but I have sliders to jack off of. Carrying an axle strap will aslo help, it attaches the axle to the frame to prevent suspension droop so you dont have to jack the rig up as high.

Scissor jack? I didn't know any TB's came with a Scissor jack. Mine is a crank bottle jack but I keep a hydraulic bottle jack in the truck.

You're right man, I've seen mine before but I don't think I've ever had to use it. I use the floor jacks here at the house.
I've only used the jack handle to lower and lubricate the spare tire lift assembly.

Just to add two more cents...

If you don't have sliders, the jack isn't completely useless, but your real utility comes from using them with sliders.

Otherwise you can use it as a winch, but it can't really replace a bottle jack.

If you have the factory tow hooks, it's possible to wrap a tree saver strap around them and use the HiLift through the strap eyes. You'll want someone watching the jack the whole time you're working though.

You can also lift the rear of the truck by the trailer hitch with a HiLift.

I aint got no sliders, and I've probably used my highlift 100 times. Great tool.

I have the 48 inch one so I can lay it down behind the second row of seats and it fits perfectly across the roof rails.

Also for those wanting to keep a hilift clean and tucked away. Mine is laying inside the passenger doors on the jam between the seats and the doors. The base is just in front of the rear seat, and the handle and "I" beam comes up into the front passenger floor area. Always easy to access, stays clean, and doesnt hurt the entry too bad.

There's a hilift 48"jack on craigslist for $50 guy said its in perfect condition alls I know is that its black think its a good buy?
