We spent the long weekend at my Dad's in Northeastern Lower Michigan. His 80 acres backs up to 9,000 acres of National Forest. Unfortunately, my Trailblazer wasn't up to the trip due to a lower ball joint issue, so we took our other car up, and used my Dad's 2008 TB for some exploring. It recently had an altercation with a Dead End sign, so ignore the front end damage.

The trails were extremely dry and sandy. I did need 4WD in a few spots. I think in mine with wider tires and the G80, I would have made it through if I'd aired down. It was fun none the less.

On the trails. Our progress was stopped by the baby you can barely see in the bottom of the photo. We turned and went the other way. It was gone when we returned.

Made it to Devil's Lake. After going through a couple miles of two tracks, they had a nice parking area

On the way home, we stopped at Negwegon State Park on Lake Huron. We've been going there for 15 years. It's a great narrow winding 2 track that goes for about 8 miles, and then opens up into a nice wide gravel road out to the beach. It's doable in a car, but more fun in a truck. We actually swam this year, which is the first I can remember doing on Memorial Day weekend in my adult life. I have pictures of the kids on the beack the last several years in winter coats

The weather was incredible. It's actually a very young white tail deer. His mother took off when we rounded the corner.

Negwegon is in Alcona County, Devils Lake is in Alpena County. Are you thinking of Montmorency County?
