Re: PML Cover for our Rear End

I've always been kinda put off by aftermarket diff covers. They seem, for our platform anyway, more of a bling accessory than actual function. I've been sticking with the factory cover and a purple cranium. The gears are splash lubed, and when up ...

PML Cover for our Rear End

Re: Axle swap purchase; quick verification

... c-clips are a pain to get in/out for me. But, it would definitely be the end-all answer I was looking for, Thanks! The stamp on the cover is definitely more user friendly, although it is VERY faint, all it took me was some sandpaper and air (or brake parts cleaner) to be able to ...

Re: 14B SF DIY diff cover drain guide.

Good times!
FWIW, it will be submerged in oil when the vehicle is in motion. Fluid is flung all around the center housing when the R&P are moving.

14B SF DIY diff cover drain guide.

... site, but it pertains here as well. My diff fill plug on my new 3/4 was filled by a previous owner with JB Weld. He also knocked a hole in the cover to fill it, then JB Welded that shut as well. Good thing he was a heavy equipment mechanic so he knew what he was doing  Anywho, it's ...

Re: SS rearend w/ Massive

I just wanted to update this real quick. I measured the 8.6 and the 9.5 from axle tube center to yoke face. The 9.5 was just a touch ... happy with the length. Also, the Massive controls fit great and came with covers over the heims. The panhard did not clear the rear diff cover so I'll ...

Re: MOD: Purple Cranium Diff Protector

Pictures of it installed. Is that a question or a statement? Lol. Chrysler installed it, he didn't. Every Cherokee D35 I've ever seen has them, http://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cherokeeforum.com-vbulletin/640x480/80-cover_dana35c_a7dfa74923477e488466bfc03476ffea3d788928.jpg

Re: MOD: Purple Cranium Diff Protector

Tried changing my rear diff. fluid but could' t get the damaged prior fill plug out. I ended up drilling a hole in the cover and installing a rubber plug for a jeep in it.total cost 3 .50 cents

... differential, but there wasn't a lot of room to get them free from the wheel hub. Took FOREVER. I do have a question though. Is there any way to cover the hole of the differential and the disconnect where the CVs were? Or am I ok just leaving them open for daily driving? I appreciate everyones ...

Re: Gear identification without RPO

You take the cover off and count the gear teeth, or turn the input pinion while keeping one axle from moving, and count the rotations of the other axle. The empirical test (just rotating the thing and doing the math) has been discussed ...

Re: Rear Differential Rebuild

No, I do not have a G80. A rod literally blew out the cover. I want to do a 8.6 swap but don't know what all I need. Obviously I need the axle housing, axles and gears. I am also looking at a locker. What else do I need? I don't want to go 9.5 due to drive shaft mods needed.

My limited experience is that the rear axle size is stamped into the cover. Both the original 8.0 and the new 8.6 had it stamped in, but I had to clean up the rust to actually see them. If you're changing ...
